Byron Bay Tango Festival 2026 - A Celebration to Remember
BBTF 2026 unfolded with the kind of magic that reminds us why we dance. This year’s event was elevated by the presence of maestros Andrés Molina and Natacha Lockwood, whose artistry, generosity and depth of teaching set the tone for an unforgettable weekend.
The festival program with day and night milongas, two‑day immersion course and workshops drew dancers from across Australia, New Zealand, UK, New Caledonia, Germany and USA, offering rare insight into technique, musicality and the subtlety of connection. And the closing night? A true explosion of energy. DJ Andrés crafted a high‑voltage musical journey that kept the floor alive far beyond the last tanda.
Behind the scenes, organisers Conrad, Sammi, Glenn and Yulia extend heartfelt gratitude to the incredible support team and to every dancer who joined the celebration. Your enthusiasm, kindness and shared love of tango are what transformed this festival into something truly special.

November 2025
Thank you, E-Tango, for bringing amazing Maxi Cristiani & Ayse Gencalp to Brisbane.
Teaching style of these world-class artists is the perfect blend of precision and warmth — Maxi’s deep technical insight and Ayse’s clarity created reach learning environment.
Something to remember (from Maxi): “Respect the phrases!” and “Stop for a phrase when a singer starts”.
Moonlight Tango Festival September 2025
With Julio Alvares and Silvina Tse we tested our abilities to adapt routine sequences to different rhythms, modify, or interrupt known structures at any time. This is essential for improvisation and adapting your dance to the space, the music, and the partner.

New Zealand Tango Festival, Wellington June 2025

We’ve just wrapped up our eighth trip to the New Zealand Tango Festival — and wow, what a ride! With maestros like Giselle Anne, Carlos Espinoza, Roxana Suarez, Sebastian Arrua, Maria Inés Bogado, Jonny Carvajal, Suyay Quiroga, we dove headfirst into workshops that stretched body and mind. Giselle reminded us that in a giro, followers own the pivot — accelerate to hit the beat! And the milonga immersion? Pure gold. From Carlos we learned “Silence connects” and that in milonga leading begins from the hips, not the hands.
We have been reminded: Tango is movement. It’s not about copying a style – it’s about discovering the comfort and fluidity of movement in our own body.
But it wasn’t just about technique. The festival was a beautiful reunion with old friends and an invitation to connect with new ones. We danced, laughed, learned, and soaked up the spirit of tango as living art—a place where music, creativity, and deep personal bonds converge.

Carolina del Rivero & Ricardo Biggeri, Brenno Lucas & Fatima Caracoch.

In September 2024 Brisbane celebrated Argentine Tango culture during a week of Moonlight Tango Festival with hundreds of dancers from Australia and beyond. We were captivated by mesmerizing performances and cherished the opportunity to learn from the maestros Silvina Tse & Julio Alvares, and Noelia Hurtado & Facundo de la Cruz. Those memories will dance in our hearts forever.

Byron Bay Tango Festival 3 - 5 May 2024
A break away tango retreat, Byron Bay TF is something we look forward to every year. This year we immersed in learning with maestros Bruno Tombari and Rocio Lequio. The couple is not only amazing dancers, but also very fine teachers. They have fantastic teaching technique and playfully explain the most complex concepts. We were fascinated with the high-level workshops and one on one lessons on musicality and fluidity of tango.

So happy to be back in this magic place.
Little tango holiday with old and new friends. The stunning beauty of the country, music and tango venues, local food and wines, what not to love?

Bundanoon
Big warm thank you to the organisers of this year's Buenos Aires in the Southern Highlands (BASH), the host and the fellow co-habitants of the impromptu Tango House, the star musicians, and all the tango community that made this weekend so magical.

Canberra Tango Community did an amazing job hosting TISP 2022. This is the first time we’ve danced together at the elegant Albert Hall, hidden in the forest. Meeting old friends, dancing with the long-time favorites and discovering exciting new tango partners, walking around Canberra, visiting splash-colored Floriade – all of this was a unique tango and life experience. Tango is coming back – strong and beautiful.
